Retirement effective May 31; national search in 2016 for next president & CEO
TELL CITY, IN: Joseph A. Stuber, president and chief executive officer of Perry County Memorial Hospital since 1999, today announced he will retire from his position effective May 31, 2016.
“Thanks to Joseph Stuber’s leadership, Perry County Memorial Hospital has thrived during the past 16 years. We’ve found exciting ways to continue to grow despite all the challenges facing Critical Access Hospitals across the U.S.,” says John B. Land, Chairman, PCMH Board of Trustees. “We are very grateful to Joe for all the ways he has improved our hospital and our community.”
As part of PCMH’s partnership with Alliant Management Services, a national search will begin in early 2016 to identify the best talent to lead PCMH in the years ahead.
“The future is very bright for PCMH,” Mr. Stuber says. “Our new state-of-the-art hospital is well-equipped with the space to serve our community with new services in the future. Plans include an on-campus medical building to be built adjacent to — and connected to — the new hospital, so we can add additional practitioners to meet our patients’ needs.”
Mr. Stuber’s tenure at PCMH has been marked by many achievements, most notably:
- Planning, obtaining financing for and building a brand new, state-of-the-art hospital for the citizens of Perry and surrounding counties. The 117,000-square-foot facility opened May 21, 2015.
- Adding full-time physicians in the specialties of obstetrics, gynecology, general surgery and orthopedic surgery to the hospital medical staff, in addition to adding several nurse practitioners.
- Building or renovating three new medical clinics in Troy, Leopold and 13th Street Medical Plaza.
Mr. Stuber is particularly proud of what his team has accomplished together. “Working closely with the Board, the medical staff and our great employees, we have created a new corporate culture of quality, excellence and superior service,” he explains.
What does the future hold for the president and CEO? “I hope to rest and enjoy life!” he says. “I will spend a lot more time on the golf course, on the water at my lake house and with my sons and granddaughter.”
