The new Perry County Memorial Hospital is proud to announce we are the most energy efficient hospital in the United States. Not only was the goal to build a new state-of-the-art 117,000 square foot, full service facility, but also to be a top-performer on energy use that would be easy to maintain, highly reliable and deliver optimal occupant comfort. In order to accomplish these goals, the administration and design team agreed on including a geothermal system, HVACH system, LED lighting and more energy efficient walls and windows. An average acute care hospital in the same climate zone as PCMH consumed three times the energy that the new Perry County Memorial Hospital uses. This translates to an estimated $125,000/year savings in utility bills. The return on investment will be achieved in only 1.2 years. Perry County Memorial Hospital’s mission is to continue to explore innovative strategies to provide health care to its community. From our beginning as the first Hill-Burton hospital in Indiana to our current position as the most energy efficient hospital in the United States, PCMH continues to fulfill the mission of providing high quality healthcare and exemplary customer service in the most caring, compassionate, and effective manner.
