In 2019, Perry County Memorial Hospital contracted with the Indiana Rural Hospital Association (IRHA) to conduct a Community Health Needs Assessment (CHNA).
The objectives of the CHNA were to 1) identify health needs within the community in an effort to ultimately improve the health of the area’s residents and facilitate collaboration among the community, and 2) satisfy the federal guidelines within the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act.
After reviewing the data, the following needs were identified as being of the highest importance:
- Illegal or prescription drug misuse/Substance Use Disorder: treatment, facilities, housing, education; mental/behavioral health
- Transportation: medical and non-medical, afterhours and weekend
- Availability of medical services afterhours and on weekends: Emergency Room, Quick Care, Urgent Care
