At Perry County Memorial Hospital, patient safety is at the heart of everything we do. From ensuring the highest standards of care to empowering patients with knowledge, our commitment to safety is unwavering. That’s why we are proud to participate in Patient Safety Awareness Week from March 9-15, a national initiative dedicated to raising awareness about healthcare safety and best practices.
Why Patient Safety Awareness Matters
Patient safety is essential in delivering high-quality healthcare. Preventing errors, reducing risks, and fostering a culture of safety ensures better patient outcomes and builds trust in our healthcare system. During this week, PCMH will highlight key areas of patient safety, engage our staff in educational initiatives, and encourage patients to take an active role in their care.
PCMH’s Commitment to Patient Safety
Throughout the week, we will host activities and provide resources to enhance safety
awareness, including:
- Daily Safety Tips: Sharing best practices with staff and patients on topics such as medication safety, infection prevention, and effective communication.
- Staff Education Sessions: Training our healthcare teams on the latest protocols and reinforcing a culture of continuous improvement.
- Patient Engagement Initiatives: Encouraging patients to ask questions, verify medications, and understand their treatment plans.
- Recognition of Safety Champions: Honoring team members who go above and beyond to ensure a safe and secure environment for our patients.
How You Can Participate
Patient safety is a shared responsibility. Here’s how you can contribute:
- Ask Questions: Don’t hesitate to seek clarification about your treatment, medications, or procedures.
- Know Your Medications: Keep an updated list and share it with your healthcare provider.
- Speak Up: If you notice something that seems unsafe, report it to your care team.
- Follow Hygiene Protocols: Hand hygiene is a simple but powerful way to prevent infections.
At PCMH, we are dedicated to fostering a culture where safety is everyone’s priority. Patient Safety Awareness Week is an opportunity to reinforce our commitment and remind our community that safe healthcare starts with all of us.
Stay tuned for updates throughout the week and thank you for partnering with us to make PCMH a safe place for all!
