Oncology

Perry County Memorial Hospital has established the Cancer Treatment Program to provide support for cancer and hematology patients – and the people who care for them – in an environment as close to home as possible.

All services, which include care, education and support, are state-of-the-art, safe, convenient and reflect our commitment to healing.

These services are offered to all cancer and hematology adult and geriatric clients, in the community served by Perry County Memorial Hospital.

Services Include:

  • Chemotherapy
  • Blood Transfusions
  • Outpatient Antibiotics
  • IV Osteoporosis Medications
  • IV Rheumatoid Arthritis Medications

Community Education Covers:

  • Awareness of cancer risks
  • Early detection
  • Prevention of cancer and associated diseases
  • The registered nurses (RNs) working in the Cancer Treatment Center have successfully completed the Cancer Treatment (Oncology) Nurse Training Program.

RNs are Certified In:

  • Administration of chemotherapeutic agents
  • Recognition of signs and symptoms of side effects
  • Intervention techniques
  • Comprehension of psycho/social aspects of cancer care

The oncologist will be available on a regular schedule to see patients. When not available in-person, the oncologist is available by telephone.

The registered nurse will be available daily Monday through Friday from 8:00 am – 4:30 pm.
